Hip Hop Video Of The Day – Mon 5/10/2009

Long before Jay-Z was putting his street money into Roc-A-Fella Records, a Kelly Park Compton Crip by the named of Eric “Eazy E” Wright had already blazed that trail by establishing Ruthless Records and founding gangster rap supergroup NWA. Shortly after the release of NWA’s classic “Straight Outta Compton” album, Eazy released his first solo album “Eazy-Duz-It” which had lyrics largely written by Ice Cube, unusual in hip hop where nearly all artists pen their own lyrics.

Eazy E had a high pitched vocal style and was very likeable despite the violent and misogynistic nature of his lyrics.  Eazy E died aged 31 in March 1995 following admission to hospital for what he thought was chronic asthma but after comprehensive testing was diagnosed as AIDS.
